The works: St Paul’s Primary School is a self-funded organisation and a member of London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), situated in Primrose Hill, NW3. This design and build project included the following works;

  • Replace floor standing boilers and fluing system
  • Hot water calorifier
  • Grundfoss constant temperature and variable temperature heating circuits
  • New control panel incorporating BMS controls with field wiring
  • Complete new heating circuit with Low Temperature Radiators (LST) and fan coil units
  • Full thermostatic controls

The existing boilers were open flued, inefficient and at the end of their working life and the heating circuit had numerous leaks within the floor screed. The contract was carried out during the school summer holidays.

Phase 1 consisted of installation to 2x Hamworthy Purwell gas fired boilers with low loss header, 1x 500L calorifier, constant, variable, minimum and secondary heating Grundfos pump sets. The system, was converted from open-vented to a closed-feed system, utilising a pressurisation unit.

Phase 2 was the replacement of all distribution pipework, radiators and controls throughout the school with associated building work. All pipework was re-routed through the ceiling void with purpose built pipe ducts to the radiators. All pipework was insulated with aluminium foil lagging.
