About Us
Watret & Co Ltd was founded by Ken Watret in St Albans, Herts in 1971. It was one of the first companies ever to apply and qualify for CORGI registration. It has held that registration proudly since then and is now registered with Gas Safe, the successor to CORGI.
Watret employs approx 55 staff, more than 40 of them engineers. The company aims to be the most reliable provider of heating services to housing associations, local authorities, landlords and homeowners.
Meet the Watret management team

Managing Director and company founder.
Ken started the company way back in 1971 but still works full-time in the business. He maintains strong personal connections with manufacturers and regularly meets clients to discuss industry trends and needs. Ken’s main expertise is in commercial heating projects but he takes a leading role on administration and financial matters too.
Installation Surveyor
Anthony has been with the business since leaving college in 2003. He oversees many of the company’s domestic installation projects and helps with IT development and procurement.
Anthony is also the company’s leading advocate for renewable technology and has been closely involved with the progress of all green energy projects on which the business has been engaged.
Senior Contracts Director
Brian is the most experienced engineer in the company and has over 20 years service with Watret alone. There is little that Brian doesn’t know about both domestic and commercial heating systems. Yet he retains a passion for excellence and is the company ‘oracle’ for ways to fine-tune manufacturers’ hardware for maximum efficiency.
Brian oversees all installations and has a particular watching brief over special and unusual projects. He also takes a lead role in project pricing.
Servicing, Maintenance and Breakdowns Manager
Chris joined Watret in 2010 and is reponsible for day-to-day management of all contracts. She supervises the engineers in the field as well as the Call Response team in the St Albans operations centre.
Chris started her career ‘on the tools’ and therefore completely understands the challenges that field technicians face each day. She graduated to managing large installation contracts mainly in the social housing sector before taking up her currrent role as part of Watret’s management team.
Chris’s particular gift is for problem-solving and reacting rapidly to client requests for support.
